Jennifer Long
Jennifer has been the
Director of Casa Marianella's Emergency Shelter since 1998. Email Jennifer.

Hillary
Hunter
Hillary graduated from Southwestern University in 2003 with a degree in
Sustainable Development. She worked at Posada Esperanza the year
following her graduation.She will stay on with Casa this next year for
her fourth year with the organization.

Nicole
DeGreg
Nicole is excitedly launching her second year with Casa Marianella.
She currently helps coordinate Casa's fantastic volunteers. A graduate of
The Ohio State University, Nicole feels very blessed to be working in a
place where she gets to apply both her majors, Spanish and Latin American
Studies, and also live out her passion for community service. She is presently
continuing her studies at the Austin Community College as she prepares
for a Master's of Nursing program beginning next June.

David
Thompson
graduated from University of Oklahoma in
2002 with a degree in Philosophy. He spent two years in
Mexico City teaching English and is very grateful for the opportunity
to work at Casa. Dave works to keep a constant supply
of food in the house and is one of the architects behind the
contruction of our newsletters.

Laura
Martin
Laura Martin graduated from
Brown University in 2004 with a degree in Hispanic Studies and International
Relations. She just returned from two years working on community development
and service learning projects in Siuna, Nicaragua. Laura is excited to be
working with the immigrant community in the U.S., and grateful that there is
no shortage of rice and beans in Austin.

Rebecca
Hall
In 1995 Rebecca's first job
out of college was as a VISTA volunteer at Casa. From 1996 - 1998 she served as director, and then later on
the board of directors. In the years that followed she worked for various non-profits helping immigrants.
Since January of 2005 she has been back at Casa part-time - the perfect job for a stay-at-home mother
of two small boys. |

Katie Sharar
Katie graduated from Macalester College in 2004 with a degree in
International Studies and Hispanic Studies. Since then, she has lived
at a Quaker intentional community, worked at a food co-op, spent many months
in El Paso working and living with the immigrant community, and worn out
several pairs of shoes exploring the nooks and crannies of various
places. In addition to continued involvement with immigrant rights and social
justice, Katie also hopes to learn to bake bread, do pottery, and always be
able to ride her bike to work.

Robin Schwartz
Specializing in the beautification of Casa recycling, compost
management, and statistics, Robin is a new member of the Marianella
community. She recently yields from SafePlace as a second year
AmeriCorps member. Robin graduated from Southwestern University in
2005 in Sociology/Feminist Studies, she is currently fascinated by
architecture and focused on sustainable development and design and is
epecially interested in how Casa Marianella relates to these fields.

Josh collier
Josh is a native to Austin. He gained a passion for serving latin immigrants
during three years of living and working in Ecuador. Josh has also spent time serving at the Crawford Peace House.

Enrique Carbonel
our Cuban poet and friend, distributes clothing and helps us keep
things organized. He also helps residents find and access health
care.
