Community Volunteer Information
We would love to have you come in and volunteer with us at Casa Marianella! Please email volunteer@casamarianella.org to get started.
If you are interested in volunteering to teach ESL
(teaching residents and community members English from 7 – 9pm Monday-Thursday) please contact esl@casamarianella.org.
Our volunteer program is very flexible, permitting you to work the hours and days you select. Please email or call us and let us know what your interests are and when you would like to get started. We will let you know when our next volunteer orientation is scheduled.
Volunteer Opportunities
As a Casa Marianella volunteer you will have many options for the activities you can participate in. Example volunteer opportunities include:
Food Shift: (3-7pm) Prepare a meal with friends or Casa staff or residents.
Organizing: Linen closet, supply closet, medicine shelves, outside sheds, mail drawer.
Women’s Work Calls: (Fridays) Take phone calls from women looking for employment and read the job list.
Office Assistance: Responsibilities around office with the encargado/as. Includes filing, answering phone, addressing resident and community needs.
Internet/Computer Classes: Hold trainings for residents teaching them the basics of the Internet
House Maintenance/ Yard Work: Addressing miscellaneous needs around the house. Rake leaves, pick up trash, gardening, pruning bushes, etc.
Rides to Residents: Take residents to medical appointments or Casa outings.
Entertainment: Organize an outing, decorate for a holiday, visit a park, museum, free concert, etc.
Educational Presentations: Give informative talks to residents on health, finances, life skills, etc.
Soccer: (most Sundays around 3pm…call before coming) Accompany residents to nearby park to play soccer.
We always welcome fresh ideas here at Casa and if you have another project or activity you are interested in pursuing as a volunteer please let us know.
