During the past year, Casa Marianella Immigration Legal Services (CMILS) has served over 500 clients from around the world as they navigate the often confusing and complicated U.S. immigration laws. CMILS assists Casa and Posada residents in applying for work permits, renewing green cards, seeking asylum, petitioning for family members, preparing applications for U Visas, and more. CMILS staff work closely with Casa and Posada staff as well as other immigrant legal service providers to provide quality legal representation to immigrants, both newly arrived and those living below the poverty line.
Casa Marianella Immigration Legal Services is staffed by:
- Paula Blaha—Legal Assistant
- Melissa Buhrt—Casa staff liaison
- Elise Harriger—Attorney
- Sarah Woelk—Attorney
To better serve its clients, CMILS is actively soliciting donations of office supplies, including:
- copy paper
- pens
- tab dividers
- file folders
- gift cards to office-supply stores
- a commercial copier/printer.
If you can contribute any of these items, drop them off at Casa any day from 8am-8pm. Monetary donations are also appreciated. To make a monetary donation to CMILS, donate to Casa Marianella and indicate that your contribution is for the legal clinic.
