Abri Lumiere

Abri Lumiere is a program of Casa Marianella that provides shelter and case management for two-parent families and families with single dads. The shelter was founded in July 2022 in Northeast Austin as a response to an increasing number of 2-parent families seeking shelter. True to the mission of Casa Marianella, Abri Lumiere serves immigrant families who are experiencing homelessness – many of whom are feeling violence in their home country.
“Abri Lumiere” is roughly translated in French as “Shelter of Light”- our desire is that every shelter resident will feel empowered to illuminate their journey through the community and support that they receive. In addition to providing shelter, our program offers case management to support our residents in accessing medical care, childcare/school enrollment, and housing. Our staff members team up with residents as they navigate complex social systems together.
The purpose of Abri Lumiere is to provide a nurturing and safe place for families to build their lives together, dream together, share life’s responsibilities, and support each other. As a staff, we strive to provide resources and accompaniment that will help families reach their housing goals, while also catering to the unique needs of families with children.
Volunteering
Volunteers help keep our spaces looking and feeling beautiful! Most of our volunteer projects include cleaning, yardwork, house repairs and beautification. If you have a car, you can also help our families get to their appointments through Appointment Advocacy. For more information about how to get involved, contact: abrilumiere@casamarianella.org.
