Casa Marianella is excited to announce the second annual ‘Home is Here’ benefit concert will take place at the iconic Paramount Theater in Austin, Texas on November 28!
The show will be a coming-together of Austin musicians welcoming their new Austin neighbors and raising money to fund Casa’s legal clinic.
Performers include Shakey Graves, Shawn Colvin, Nina Diaz (of Girl in a Coma), Eritrean musicians Yowhannes Tquab (aka Wedi Tikabo) and Tekle Mezghebe, and special guests. It’s going to be an incredible night of entertainment and fundraising, all to make sure Austin remains a safe and welcoming place for refugees.
Ticket sales from the concert will raise funds for the legal clinic at Casa Marianella, which provides crucial support to asylum seekers and refugees in Texas as they navigate the legal process to claim asylum status.
Now more than ever, community solidarity is critical. In 2025, it has become increasingly difficult and expensive for an asylum seeker to navigate the asylum process. For example, in 2024, there was no fee to file an application for political asylum; today it costs $100. In 2024 there was no fee for a first-time work permit; today It costs $550.
Casa Marianella’s goal is to raise $100,000 to help our in-house legal clinic pay the fees and bonds for our clients and keep them moving along the legal process to eventual citizenship and safety in the United States.
Last year’s inaugural concert was an incredible night of hope, love and dancing. We hope you will join us at the Paramount Theater for another unforgettable night of entertainment and fundraising for a worthy cause!
Sponsors of “Home Is Here” include Kate Lincoln-Goldfinch, Paul Parsons, KUTX, KOOP, the Austin Chronicle, and Texas Monthly.

Background on Casa Marianella
Since 1986, Casa Marianella, a 501C3 organization, has been a beacon of hope for men, women and children fleeing unimaginable circumstances. We started with a single house serving refugees fleeing El Salvador and today we have grown into a network of shelters providing safe refuge, legal support, medical assistance, and educational opportunities to thousands of people from countries such as Venezuela, Democratic Republic of Congo, Eritrea, Afghanistan, Cuba, and Russia.
Asylum seekers across the world come to the United States fleeing political persecution, torture and terror in their home countries. For many of our residents, it was a life or death decision. The journey to the United States has been dangerous, but worth it for the chance to live a free, safe life.
Texas has become their new home, and with your help, Casa Marianella can provide the important legal support needed to help them win their cases for asylum and stay in their new home of Austin, Texas.
