Benefits Coordinator – French Speaking | Casa Marianella Benefits Office

Job Type: Full-time

Our Mission:
Casa Marianella welcomes displaced immigrants and promotes self-sufficiency by providing
shelter and support services.

Job Description:

The objective of the Benefits Office is to broadly improve health outcomes for our clients – both
Casa Marianella residents and members from the Austin community at-large, in particular those
seeking asylum in or immigrating to the United States. We do this by offering free in-person and
over the phone assistance for navigating the bureaucratic systems that make it difficult for
clients to access services and support like health care, food assistance, cash assistance, rental
and utility relief, and more.

Activities:

● Assess needs of clients and screen them for benefit program eligibility;
● Inform clients of health benefit options, gather eligibility documents and apply to
programs;
● Follow up with clients to ensure timely and successful enrollment;
● Track client information and submit routine reports and outcome data;
● Collaborate with the other Benefits Coordinator, shelter staff and Case Managers to
better serve shelter residents and promote self-sufficiency;
● Attend and participate in training and weekly staff meetings.
Qualifications:
The Benefits Office strives to provide the Austin community with services that can address the
needs of recently arrived immigrants from many different countries. For this reason, we value
language access, flexibility, and awareness of the challenges immigrants face.
● Proficient French communication: written and spoken;
● Experience and/or strong interest in working with immigrant communities;
● Comfortable communicating with clients across different cultures and backgrounds;
● Adaptability and commitment to problem-solve when challenges arise;
● Prior knowledge of social assistance programs preferred.
Pay & Benefits:
● $15/hr starting pay
● 2 weeks paid vacation per year
● 7 paid sick days per year
● Health Insurance
Schedule:
● 40 hours/week, 30 in-person and 10 flexible
● In-person office hours: Mon-Thurs 12 p.m.-6 p.m., Fri 10 a.m.- 4 p.m.
